Sofia is fascinated by wood in all its forms; as a tree, a material, a fuel. Working in wood is a challenge she relishes. As wood was once living it reacts to processes it is put through, moving and twisting. She responds to this in real time while constructing and carving, allowing a dialoge between maker and material; letting the wood tell her how far to push. Through her work, Sofia seeks to explore the dark beauty found in the grotesque with objects that are both fascinating and repellent.

Craftworks 2024

15th-17th May 2024

I will be participating in Jay Blades brand new craft exhibition, Craftworks, as part of London Craft Week 2024 at Shoreditch Town Hall, London. You can find me and my work on QEST stand, where I will be showing alongside other Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust Scholars. We will have some demonstrations of our crafts taking place during the show.
