Past and Future
Funded by the Glass Society Prize 2023, this work was made during a residency at the National Glass Centre and is now held in their permanent collection. It explores what we lose when someone close to us dies. Inspired by losing both my father at 14 – and with him all connection to half of my heritage and culture – and my beautiful friend and talented artist, Salote Koto – whose work inhabited a similar space to mine and who both challenged and supported me. He was my past; she was my future.
