Hybridity. Middle ground
'Hybridity. Middle ground' draws attention to the uniqueness of being bi-racial or from more than one culture. Taking its inspiration from a poem by Jackie Kay, the full text reads 'I will stand alone in my middle ground' and invites the viewer to reflect on the way that society pigeonholes people of colour - into groups, categories, boxes - that don't allow us to be individual people with unique background and experiences.
