Hare on a Prayer Chair
A dilapidated French antique prayer dieu was a challenging project. Obviously a much loved and well used piece of furniture dating from 1906 and from Arras. I know this as French upholsterers always sign and date their work on the frame.
The design was created using machine embroidery and applique. Silver charm leaves were very carefully and securely hand sewn in place.
Traditional upholstery skills were used to re-upholster the prayer chair in navy blue velvet.
Simple but stunning!
