When the boat comes in
My father arrived on this boat on 22 June, 1948. In this piece, I use bright colours in an abstract pattern to represent the Caribbean and the falling leaves as a symbol of the UK trying to merge different cultures together in one piece. Techniques used are, applique, embroidery, hand sewing, printed paper. Materials used are, felt repurposed clothing, netting, wool, embroidery threads, boiled wool, paper, corduroy. Dimensions are 80 x 97 cms.
