Villa Ventorum at The Newt in Somerset
I was commissioned to design and make a dozen leather journals in the style of the late Roman codex (book) for Villa Ventorum at The Newt in Somerset. The design is based on historical research into the earliest book forms of the period. My books sit in the bedroom, study and tutor's room. The client selected Mustard, Green, Maroon and Oxblood leathers with complementary binding threads. Similar books are for sale in the Roman museum retail store at The Newt.
