Imiloa Collective and Audrey Albert invite you to explore identity, heritage and personal stories through Sunprint making. Come along from 6-8pm on Monday 31 October.
Sunprinting is an accessible photographic process where images are created using photographic paper, sunlight or uv lights. In this workshop, you will use personal belongings, objects and memories as prompts to tell visual stories. Participants will explore expressions of heritage and culture through natural craft, language, oral traditions and feelings of attachment towards a place and memories.
The workshop will be led by Imiloa Collective - a social creative platform that builds and enriches the skillsets of creatives - in collaboration with artist and facilitator Audrey Albert aka Odd Athaëna.
This workshop is held as part of Imiloa Collective's Creative Entrepreneurship Programme funded by the UK Government, in collaboration with the British Council. The project entails a series of cross-cultural workshops with the Chagossian communities in both the UK and Mauritius.
Audrey Albert is a Mauritius-born, Manchester-based maker, artist and photographer whose research-led practice enables her to consider and investigate themes of national identity, collective memory, displacement, tradition and denial. Her work ‘Matter Out of Place’ which explores her Chagossian heritage has been exhibited in Manchester in the UK, Arles in France, Pingyao in China, and Port-Louis in Mauritius.
